Escaped inmates from Loxley captured in Mississippi

LOXLEY, Alabama — Two inmates who escaped from the Loxley Work Release Center on July 25 have been recaptured in Mississippi, according to a release issued Friday by the Alabama Department of Corrections.

ADOC investigators assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force apprehended 38-year-old Demetrius Larkins and Raymond Keith Robinson, 35, at approximately 2:45 p.m. in Gulfport, Mississippi, on Friday. Also arrested was a female suspect who was with Larkins and Robinson when they were recaptured.

Lakeya Paige, 34, of Mobile is suspected of helping Larkins and Robinson escape.

A witness saw the two inmates enter a black SUV in the vicinity of the work release center. Paige is charged with aiding an escape.

Larkins was serving a 25-year sentence on a 1997 conviction of first-degree robbery in Jefferson County. Robinson has was sentenced to 15 years in 2006 for first-degree robbery in Mobile County.

Both inmates and Paige were taken to the Harris County Jail to await extradition back to Alabama.
