Events planned for Easter weekend in Central and North Baldwin

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama -- Several area churches and civic groups in Central and North Baldwin are planning events to celebrate the upcoming Easter season. Events include:

Easter egg hunts
The First Baptist Church of Bay Minette Children’s Ministry will host an “eggstravaganza” beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 at the church, 1201 Hand Ave., Bay Minette. The event will include an egg hunt, games and free food. For more information contact the church at 251-937-9536 or visit fbcbm.com.

The Lighthouse of Baldwin County will host its annual Easter Eggstravaganza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, April 14 at Garrett Park, Robertsdale.
Join The Lighthouse in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April. Activities include jump houses, pony rides, face-painting, free sno cones just for children and Easter egg hunts separated into age-appropriate zones. A kiddie pool is also available stuffed with Easter eggs for those 2 and under.

The Town of Loxley will host an Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 15 on the ball fields at the Loxley Municipal Park, 4198 Municipal Park Drive, off of Alabama 59.
The Loxley Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Loxley Church of God will be coordinating several fun activities for children of all ages surrounding the event.

“Spring Eggstravaganza Fellowship” will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 15 at Ulmer Park in Bay Minette.
Sponsored by Mutual Aid Society of Bay Minette, the event will include free food, games for all and egg hunts for ages 2-6 and 6-11.
Door prizes will be given out for youth and adults. In case of inclement weather the event will be held in the Douglasville gym.

Rosinton UMC’s Journey to the Cross
ROSINTON — Rosinton United Methodist Church invites you to experience its live event, “Journey to the Cross,” from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 13 at the church, 26011 Baldwin Beach Express, at the corner of County Road 62 north of Robertsdale.
Enjoy refreshments and free admission. Child care will be provided.
Journey to the Cross is an interactive, walk-through Protestant version of the Stations-of-the-Cross event representing incidents that led up to Jesus’ crucifixion. You will begin with creation and end with communion.
Journey to the Cross is a powerfully moving, multi-sensory family event that guides people along the path that Jesus walked during his last days on Earth. This is a family friendly event and children are invited to participate with their parents.

Maundy Thursday

Good Friday

Sunrise services
Silverhill First Baptist Church
will host an Easter Sunrise Service beginning at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, April 16 at Oscar Johnson Memorial Park on Silverhill Avenue. All denominations are invited to participate. For more information call 251-945-5181 or visit FBCSilverhill.org.

Robertsdale United Methodist Church will host a Community Sunrise Service beginning at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, April 16 at the Garrett Park pavilion in Robertsdale. This is a joyous opportunity for the community to come together in celebration of our Savior’s resurrection from the dead to eternal life. Everyone is invited to participate. Wales West Cottontail Express
SILVERHILL — This weekend will be your last chance to climb aboard the 2017 Cottontail Express at Wales West Light Railway, 13670 Smiley St., Silverhill.
Every Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., ride Dame Ann, a real steam train, to the “Bunny Hutch” where you’ll enjoy getting pictures with the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt, and crafts.
All can enjoy refreshments, a miniature train ride, tractor ride, playground and bounce house. Other activities include a petting zoo/pony rides, peep cannon, cafe, gift shop and concession stand for slight fees.
Admission is free for ages 2 and under. For all others, the cost is $15 per person. Group rates are available.
