Fall events planned in Bay Minette

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The fall calendar is filling up with lots of great events in Bay Minette.

Baldwin County High School homecoming parade will be held 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, and will conclude with a bonfire and pep rally on the greenspace beside the old Bay Minette Intermediate/former BCHS location.

The school plans to have food trucks set up as well. Be sure and come out for the parade and stick around for the community bonfire.

On Friday night, Oct. 16, the BCHS Tigers will face the Gulf Shores Dolphins in a homecoming match-up.

The VFW Post 3568 will hold its annual benefit fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning at 11 a.m. at the post on Newport Parkway.

The day’s activities will include a fish fry, auction, and a drawdown for a $1,000 prize. Be sure and support our veterans.

Burgers and Bingo will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Courthouse Square Gazebo. There is no charge to participate in this event, sponsored by the City of Bay Minette.

Prizes have been donated by local businesses, churches and individuals. Local civic groups will be set up to sell food and drinks as well.

A Trunk or Treat fundraiser will be held Oct. 24 in support of the North Baldwin Literacy Council. The event will be held 6 to 9 p.m. on West Second Street beside the Bay Minette Public Library.

Sponsored by the Salty Crawlers, this free event is open to the public. Donations will be accepted in support of the Literacy Council.

The second annual Bay Minette Witches Ride will be held Oct. 24, beginning at Blackburn Park. Registration is available through Eventbrite. Proceeds will benefit the North Baldwin Animal Shelter.

Organizers are planning a day filled with activities including food trucks, vendors, animals visiting from the shelter, a DJ spinning tunes, street dancing, and the ride will begin at 1 p.m. Life South will also be onsite taking donations.

The Light in the Darkness Suicide Awareness Walk will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Kids Park. The event is a collaboration of the BCHS National Honor Society, Student Council and Peer Helpers, in partnership with the City of Bay Minette.

Donations will be accepted for luminaries to be placed in memory of those who have been lost to suicide. Proceeds will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

This event was originally planned for September but was postponed due to Hurricane Sally.

The Bay City Spooktacular Auto Show will be held 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Bay Minette Recreation Department on McMeans Avenue. The event will also include a raffle drawing, trunk or treat, and a split-the-pot.

Bay Minette Lodge 498 will hold a trunk or treat on Halloween night at 328 Courthouse Square. The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will remain open until all candy is distributed.

The annual Veterans Day Parade will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the downtown streets of Bay Minette.

We want to encourage each of you to come out in support of our veterans. We would love to see the streets lined with residents cheering on these men and women who served our country.

A Downtown Block Party will be held Nov. 19 on South Hand Avenue. Several businesses and downtown restaurants will remain open after hours for the event, which will also include live music.
