Foley announces Arbor Day 2020

FOLEY - The city of Foley has proclaimed Feb. 29 to be Arbor Day 2020. An event will be held at the Coastal Alabama Farmers and Fishermen Market beginning at 1 p.m.

Mayor John Koniar read a proclamation for Arbor Day before handing out books for Foley Elementary School, Foley Intermediate School, Foley Middle School, Foley High School, and the Foley Public Library in honor of the day. Members of the Foley Beautification Board were also present for the proclamation.

Foley was recently announced as a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation for the 39th year in a row, and 2020 observes the 148th anniversary of Arbor Day.

“We urge all citizens to support efforts to care for our trees and woodlands, support our city’s forestry program, and to plant trees and promote the well-being of present and future generations,” Koniar said.
