Foley Main Street begins branding process

FOLEY - After being postponed, Foley Main Street is able to move forward on the branding process.

The City of Foley became a member of Main Street Alabama in 2018, joining many other towns and cities as part of the Main Street Community.

Main Street Alabama follows the 4-Point national approach to downtown revitalization, focusing on breathing life back into downtown areas. Main Street is designed to help existing businesses grow, bringing in new businesses and filling empty spaces, planning special events and festivals that are unique to the communities in which they take place, and decorating downtown buildings to catch the eyes of passersby.

Year one brought in the resource team to gather information about where Foley is and where it’s recommended to go, while year two saw the market analysis, telling teams who Foley is economically.

Year three brings the long-awaited branding process, which is now in full swing. Arnett, Muldrow and Associates has assisted with many branding processes in the past, and now have set their sights to Foley.

“When we look at community identity we’re putting on the table the story of a place, and there’s a role for all the different parts of that place,” said Arnett, Muldrow and Associates President Tripp Muldrow. “We certainly want the downtown to have the best kind of image it can have as part of Foley. We want to provide an identity that relates to the personality that is downtown.”

The branding will include an image and slogan designed specifically for Foley based off the findings from the branding team.

June 7 and 8 saw seven roundtable meetings occur, where the branding team got to learn more about Foley and specifically the downtown area. On June 9 the team presented an initial presentation of ideas and concepts to the steering team in order to get feedback. The team will then begin work to complete a concept branding, and aims to return in six weeks for follow-up workshops and return groups.

The official results will be revealed during an unveiling ceremony scheduled for July 30.
