Foley Mardi Gras will roll again next year

Posted

FOLEY – There’s been recent confusion as there are now two Mardi Gras parades that will be rolling through the streets of Foley come 2019. Due to the appearance of a new Krewe, some people have been wondering if this means that Foley will no longer have the annual parade through downtown. In actuality, Foley is now getting two parades to celebrate.

Beginning in 2018, the new Krewe du Cirque held Foley’s first Mardi Gras Ball at the new Event Center, and for 2019, the Krewe has teamed with OWA and will be putting on a parade through OWA’s streets. There will be a street party as well as the crowning of the Krewe’s king and queen.

Even though the Krewe du Cirque has set a tentative date of Sunday, March 3, 2019, for their OWA parade and party, they will not be the only ones hosting a Mardi Gras celebration in Foley.

The annual Foley Mardi Gras parade that begins from the Kid’s Park is still in the plans, and will be taking place on the Saturday prior to Fat Tuesday. The Foley Mardi Gras parade crew is anticipating a big parade group made up of both new and familiar faces.

So coming up in 2019, Foley will now have two separate parades celebrating the Mardi Gras season.
