Foley Police respond to shoplifting at Tanger

At approximately 6:40 p.m. on Aug. 26, Foley police responded to Tanger Outlets (located at 2601 South McKenzie Street), for a report of shoplifting in progress. Officers attempted to make contact with a group of four suspects. An officer placed Angela Reney Jones in custody for shoplifting. While placing Jones in the police vehicle, she was able to free a hand and strike the officer in the head before attempting to flee from the vehicle. Jones was charged with Theft of Property fourth degree (misdemeanor), Attempt to Elude or Flee (misdemeanor), and Escape third degree. Anthony Tywan Devaughn attempted to flee during Jones’ arrest but was quickly apprehended nearby. He was charged with Theft of Property third degree (misdemeanor) and Attempt to Elude or Flee (misdemeanor). Two juveniles were also arrested in connection with this incident.
