Foley Public Library Starts the Year Off Right!

FOLEY - The Foley Public Library is starting the 2018 year off right with a bevy of programs in January. Seating is limited for all programs and calling 251-943-7665 is generally required to reserve a spot. All programs are held in the upstairs meeting room of the library.

On Thursday, Jan. 4, Dr. Otto Richter, of the University of West Florida, will give an astronomy presentation entitled “Supernovae (or Where does all the Gold on Earth come from?) Dr. Richter graduated from the University of Hamburg and has lived in the states for many years and taught astronomy classes at several universities. A reservation is required for this program which begins at 6 pm.

BINGO Night will return on Friday, Jan. 12, at 6 pm. BINGO will be held in Jan, Feb, and March of this year. A 3-month hiatus will then occur and BINGO will return in July 2018 for 3 more months. At this time, January BINGO Night is completely full. Please call to be added to a waiting list. All attendees will be phoned on Jan. 11 and any cancellations will result in calling the waiting list. Please note, reservations can be made 1 month prior to each BINGO Night.

COLOR ME HAPPY!, an adult coloring club, will be meeting at a new time starting on Wed, Jan. 14, 2018. The new time is 2 - 4 pm. This is being done in the hopes it will increase attendance. Calls for a reservation for this program are not required at this time.

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, Makersaurus Time for children ages 8-16 years, will occur from 4 - 5 pm. A Tin Can Robot Build will take place with 3 robots being built by the children in attendance. This will be an actual moving robot. Come and learn about robotics and how they can impact your life. Seating is limited and reservations are required for this program.

On Sat, Jan. 27, 2018, an adult program will be held on Journal Making. Attendees will create their own journal/scrapbook to take home with them. Instruction on decoupaging, sewing in pages, and embellishing books will be given. Seating is also limited for this program so a reservation is required.
