Foley Senior Center offering up tons of fun in February

FOLEY - The Foley Senior Center started off 2020 with a bang, and is continuing to offer fun and exciting events during the coming months. February is filled with lots of opportunities to find out what the Foley Senior Center has to offer.

The month kicks off with a Beginner Mah Jong class on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. More dates to be announced. On Tuesday, Feb. 11, members will be playing BINGO at 2 p.m. On Thursday, Feb. 13, the Foley Senior Center is planning a lunch out and a trip to the theater to see a show. More information will be posted closer to the date.

Jeanette Bornholt, over the Genealogy Department at the Foley Public Library, will be at the center the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 18 for coffee and discussions. Reservations will be required. Later that day, meet the members for Movie Madness at the Foley Public Library at 1 p.m. The feature movie for February is Judy, rated PG-13. Popcorn, candy, and sodas will be provided for 50 cents, and reservations are required.

On Thursday, Feb. 20, the members will be leaving the center at 9 a.m. heading for the Sunliner Diner in Gulf Shores for breakfast. Reservations are required.

The monthly Potluck will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at noon. The city will be providing corned beef. On Friday, Feb. 28, Lunch N Learn with BB of BB’s Health Food Store will take place at 11 a.m. BB will talk with members about “Eating Right for your Blood Type.” The Senior Center will provide a soup and salad lunch for $2, or you may brown bag it; the center will provide desserts and drinks for everyone. Reservations are required.

The Senior Center is working to put together a watercolor painting class, which will begin in mid-February and go for eight weeks. The cost will be $50 and you will need to provide your own supplies. Anyone interested is asked to please sign up soon; eight people are required to hold this class.

The Annual Winter Ball will be held on Friday, March 6 at the Foley Civic Center. The theme this year is The Roaring 20s. Semi-formal or formal attire is suggested, but not required. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the band will start at 6:30. EXIT 105 will provide entertainment and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Tickets are $12.50 per person, and will be available through March 1.

Aside from the big monthly events, the Foley Senior Center has weekly events happening throughout the entire month, including crochet and knitting, line dancing, square dancing, open jams, pinochle, yoga, ballroom lessons, cards, photography clubs, and lots more!
