Foley Woman’s Club February meeting filled with fun and prizes

FOLEY – During the Foley Woman’s Club Feb. 5 meeting, the members enjoyed fun times and contests before getting to business on the final planning for their upcoming Annual Mad Hatters’ event in March.

Members held a contest for creative baskets that they decorated either individually or in teams for the upcoming Mad Hatters’ event. The baskets were displayed along a table for voting. The winning team for the basket contest consisted of Sylvia Womack, Faye Myrick, and Cheryl McCoy, while Beverly McNair won for best donated item. McNair won with a lovely nature painting she had done.

Along with the donation and basket contest, the members also enjoyed a couple rounds of bingo. Beverly McNair and Eleanor Parker were the winners of bingo, and were able to choose from surprise packaged gifts as prizes.

While the members had fun and friendly competition during the meeting, they also discussed the upcoming Mad Hatters’ event in detail. The event will take place on March 8 at the Foley Civic Center. Doors will open at 10 a.m. and guests can begin bidding for the silent auction. Tickets will be on sale during the event for raffle baskets and a $500 Pot of Gold.

The theme for the event is Alice’s Wonderland, and guests are encouraged to show up and show off their greatest and wildest hats. Events include a Hat Parade, which will show off the creative hats worn by members as well as guests, followed by the hat contest. The categories include: Most Creative Theme; Craziest; and Most Glamorous. Entertainment will be provided, along with a fashion show and a catered lunch. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased now.

No tickets will be sold at the door. You can call Sylvia Womack at 251-955-5294 or email at sylviad419@live.com, or Kelly Barrett at 251-943-4433 to purchase a ticket.

All profits go to help women and children in Baldwin County.
