Four Orange Beach businesses vandalized

Posted

Four Orange Beach businesses were vandalized by a graffiti artist sometime between the evening of Aug. 19 and the morning of Aug. 20. The businesses affected include Anchor Bar and Grill, Barefoot Island Grill, Big Mike’s Steakhouse and McCarron Insurance.

Anchor Bar and Grill owner Jonathan Kastner arrived Thursday morning to find graffiti all over the building and surrounding area.

The suspect vandalized, “five picnic tables, two of the concrete supports under the building, my Cajun smoker, the newly built fence around the trash corral, corn hole boards, the Anchor sign at the street, the dumpster, the Cintas bin where we throw our dirty linen, our oil drop and electrical boxes,” Kastner said.

McCarron Insurance’s sign located in front of their business on Canal Road was vandalized as well as a handicapped parking sign in the parking lot.

“We are very disappointed that someone would deface property in that way. We do not know who the person was; if it is a local, we are highly disappointed that someone would treat their area that way. If it was a visitor, they need to understand this is where we live and work. While they come to play and we hope they have a good time there is no need for acts like that,” said Kevin McCarron.

McCarron said they hit the graffiti with a bunch of boat cleaning supplies and were able to get the sign cleaned up.

Anchor Bar and Grill’s Facebook post Aug. 20 helped generate lots of interest and leads for the Orange Beach Police.

Lieutenant Trent Johnson said, “we believe a suspect has been identified, however; the investigation is on-going at this time with warrants pending for the possible suspect.”
