Frances Aileen “D.D.” Andrews, a native of Fairhope, died Monday, June 20, 2016.

She was born May 30, 1932 to Claude Franklin and Annie Belle Gabel Andrews Sr. She had one brother Claude Franklin Andrews Jr., all deceased.

She was one of 18 first cousins on her mother’s side, of which eight survive her. She is also survived by other cousins and many friends.

She was on the Cradle Roll of the Fairhope United Methodist Church and has remained a member all her life.

She graduated from Fairhope High School in 1950 and the class is known as the “Nifty Fifty.” There were 14 classmates that started together in the first grade and graduated together. They also meet monthly for a dinner.

She also attended the University of Montevallo and the University of Alabama.

She loved camping, traveling, board games, fishing, collecting rocks, driftwood, shells and pine cones of all shapes and sizes.

She loved animals, especially her two little dogs, Buttons and Lucky.

She loved traveling in her motorhome all over the U.S., Canada, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, also abroad to many foreign countries.

She was a charter member of the Eastern Shore Sams and served as president, treasurer and wagon master. The club has disbanded, but members meet monthly at a restaurant and still enjoy each other’s company. Also she was state treasurer for the Alabama Good Sam Club and RV enthusiasts, and attended many state campouts.

She lived in Fairhope until moving to Westminster Village in Spanish Fort in July 2011, where she made many friends and enjoyed playing board games with fellow residents and many social activities. Her dog, Lucky, was also welcomed at Westminster and liked living there, especially all the attention he got.

Her family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Westminster Village’s Bay Ridge Skilled Care for the loving attention they gave her in her final months.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service time.

Interment will follow in Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Fairhope United Methodist Church.
