George Norman Armstrong, age 89, a native of Miami, Florida and a resident of Foley, Alabama, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017.
George was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gulf Shores, Alabama.
He graduated from Miami High School, was a veteran of the Navy in WWII, his final rank was a Machinist Mate Grade 3, and he was a longtime volunteer at the William F. Green Veterans Home. He was also a member of the DAV Chapter in Foley.
Preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Sarah Armstrong; brothers, Dwight C. and Claud J. Armstrong; sister, Margaret E. Armstrong Ellis.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, June G. Armstrong of Foley, Alabama; nephews, Wayne Ellis of Mobile, Alabama and Claud J. Armstrong Jr. (Angie) of Jacksonville, Florida; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Jane) Mosteller of Wilmer, Alabama; sister-in-law, Joan Mosteller of New York; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the NAS All Faiths Chapel, 250 Chambers Ave., Pensacola, FL 32508.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral service.
Interment will be at noon at Barrancas National Cemetery.
