Gerald Leigh Morris, age 81, a native of Portsmouth, Virginia, died peacefully at his home in Orange Beach on May 17, 2018. He was a longtime resident of Stockton and Orange Beach, Alabama.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn Gause Morris; two children, Eleanor Morris Weiss (Joshua Samuel Weiss) of Atlanta, Georgia and Warren Gause Morris (Laura Priest Morris) of Suwanee, Georgia; and four grandchildren, Mary Amelia Weiss, Eleanor Anne Weiss, Thomas Gause Morris and Laura Leigh Morris. Survivors also include his sister, Marian Diemert Watts (Richard Gregory Watts) of Mobile; and a nephew, Thomas Heath Watts.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Derwood Morris of Portsmouth, Virginia; his mother, Mavis Heath Diemert; and a sister, Madeline Diemert Tew.

Gerald's keen wit and sense of humor were a joy to all who knew him. His family and friends were a great source of comfort and pride to him, and his dedication to them was unwavering.

Graveside services will be held at Stockton Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clint Conner in Stockton.
