Local business looking to record paranormal activity

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Have you experienced things going bump in the night? Have you ever heard unexplained noises? Seen an unexplained shadow or light?

If you have, it’s possible that you’ve had a close encounter with the paranormal. If so, the folks at B-Town Paranormal in Bay Minette want to hear from you.

“We just want people to know that these types of things are real and can be recorded and measured,” said Sarah Wilson, a Bay Minette native.

She and her husband Brad, who moved to the area from Indianapolis, along with John and Carria Johnson, who are also longtime Baldwin County residents, formed B-Town Paranormal about six months ago.

“Brad and John are the lead investigators,” Sarah Wilson said. “They explain what we’re seeing and what we’re experiencing. Carria is our main photographer and I am a recorder and tech person.”

Since forming the business, Wilson said, the group has visited several historic sites in Baldwin County and areas where paranormal activity has been reported, including Saluda Hill Cemetery in Spanish Fort and the grave of Red Eagle, along with main battle sites, including Fort Mims and Blakeley, among others.

“We are probably one of the only organizations around that do this,” she said. “We are strictly non-profit and do everything by the book. We are not going to set foot on any property without the owners’ permission.”

For public sites, Wilson said, they solicit the help of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department.

Along the way, she says, they have gotten some amazing footage and recordings of paranormal activity, most of which can be viewed by accessing their You Tube videos.

“I personally have been pushed and we got a high-quality, Class A EVP (Electric Voice Phenomenon) recording of a child laughing,” she said.

For the most part, she says, people they have encountered have been receptive to their work.

“One cemetery told us we can only go there during the daytime, which hasn’t made it easy,” she said. “We’ve also had some refusals. We get a lot of people who are scared, or who believe that if you’re a Christian, you can’t believe in things like this.”

Most of what B-Town does is simply to observe and make simple recordings, either photographs or video footage, she said, but they do have equipment for recording paranormal activity.

Most of the sites they have visited have been after doing research of places that have recorded strange phenomena or have a history associated with the location.

“We look into locations that have legends associated with that location or where people have stories of witnessing or experiencing paranormal activity,” she said.

There are several places they still want to explore, such as many of the historic buildings around Courthouse Square in Bay Minette and Woodhaven Dairy in the Silverhill area.

“We’ll go anywhere they we are welcomed,” she said. “Just let us know and we will be happy to check it out.”
