Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. before the Dolphins’ first home game Friday (Sept. 1)

GULF SHORES, Ala. — The crowd at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium will welcome the inaugural inductees to the Gulf Shores High School Hall of Fame Friday (Sept. 1) during their Induction Ceremony at the Dolphins’ game with Baldwin County High.
Gulf Shores High assistant principal Mark Glassford said the school has had a rich athletic tradition right out of the starting gate with varsity competition in 1999.
"There has always been a wealth of talent from this area even before Gulf Shores opened its doors.,” he said. “But we thought it was time to start officially acknowledging not only the great athletes, but the great coaches and associate members that have contributed so much during their tenure.”
The first hall of fame class will attend a meet-and-greet event before going to Mickey Miller-Blackwell Stadium Friday. The inaugural induction ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. before the Dolphins’ first home-game kickoff of 2017.
Glassford said the first class was also just the beginning of a strong legacy of leadership created at GSHS.

“This class represents the foundation we expect to build on going forward and this is just the start. We also want to provide the opportunity to bring them back and get together with each other.
“Some have not been back since graduation so it’s also a kind of reunion opportunity as well as a chance for us to show our appreciation and recognition of what they did here.”
