Gulf Shores City School board held their work session Feb. 6 in the high school band room.

Band director William Mixon thanked the Dolphin Foundation for the new projection system in the band room. The motorized 165-inch screen and 6,000 lumen laser digital projector allows Mixon to utilize technology. Mixon also thanked the City of Gulf Shores for installing the system.

A prototype of the Gulf Shores High School Marching Band uniform was on display in the front of the classroom. The current uniforms are 12 years old and are not in good condition. The band has been fundraising all year and have raised $22,000 but need to raise close to $50,00. Mixon hopes to purchase 110 new uniforms and have them ready for next fall.

The Gulf Shores High School percussion section performed three songs for the group before the school board proceeded with the work session.

The Gulf Shores City School Board will meet at City Hall Feb. 20 at 5 p.m. The school board meetings and work sessions are open to the public.
