Gulf Shores honors Meyer Vacation Rentals for light display

The Gulf Shores Beautification Board awarded Meyer Vacation Rentals its inaugural Beautification Award for a seasonal display in a landscaped setting.

The award recognizes a commercial or residential property that incorporates seasonal decorations to enhance the surrounding landscape.

The Gulf Shores Beautification Board encouraged businesses and residents to use lights and seasonal decorations to create a “wave of magic with lights” for the 2016 season.

“Meyer’s building is the center hallmark of the city’s seasonal lights display,” said Mary Wayne Gilmore, a member of the Beautification Board. “Meyer’s lights display and decorations are beautifully integrated into the surrounding landscaping. Meyer, whose grounds are beautifully landscaped throughout the year, is a leader in this community in so many ways, and the building is a focal point for visitors traveling Highway 59 into Gulf Shores. This display is so welcoming to both residents and visitors alike.”

Tom Flowers, facilities and fleet coordinator for Meyer Vacation Rentals, is responsible for designing the annual display of lights, said Meyer Vacation Rentals President Michelle Nelson.

“The display Tom puts together for each holiday season is both spectacular and whimsical,” Nelson said. “The festive scene evokes images of our tropical locale and creates a cheerful and hospitable presence along our busy main thoroughfare. We are extremely honored to have won the Beautification Board’s inaugural seasonal display award.”
