ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The fourth annual Martha Ann Hinton Memorial Scholarship Ride took place April 15. The ride raised $1,502 to go to the scholarship in memory of Martha Ann Hinton.

A long time educator in Baldwin County who touched many lives, she was killed by a drunk driver in Mobile in 2013. The scholarship was founded by her family as a way for students to come to know her and to keep her memory alive.

The ride was made possible by Fire and Iron Station 1001 Motorcycle Club of Robertsdale which sponsors and hosts this annual event, along with sister stations from the Fire and Iron Station Nation of Stations, Station 114 from Gulfport, Mississippi, and Station 48 from Pensacola, Florida, the Stapleton Volunteer Fire Department (Chief Tim Pouncey), Bay Minette Police Department, Rabun Volunteer Fire Department, Stockton Volunteer Fire Department and Perdido Volunteer Fire Department.

Fire and Iron Station 1001 President Steve Williams would like to thank the following businesses for donating items for the auction and door prizes; Advanced Auto, Auto Zone, Baldwin Kubota Tractor, Bob the Barber, Burger King, Campbell Hardware, Camping World, Coastal Equipment, Express Oil, GooRoos, Harley Davidson Mobile, Harley Davidson Pensacola, Hub City Eye, Middleton’s Auto Parts, Mike’s Saw & Cycle Shop, Magnolia Blossman, McKinley (Chuck & Susan) Motorola, Napa, Navco, O’Reily Auto, Papa John’s Pensacola, Pensacola Indian Store, Racines Feed, Robertsdale Power & Equipment, The Store, Tool Expo, Trendz Hair Salon, Wal Mart and others.

Entertainment was provided by Dwain Bradshaw and a great time was had by all. The date for next year’s ride will be April 21 and will once again be held at the Stapleton VFD.
