2017 Hoops for Girls Basketball Camp

• Morning-session camp directed by coach Alison Calloway will be held July 10–14

DAPHNE, Ala. — The Hoops for Girls Basketball Camp is planned again for this summer.

Three years ago, coach Alison Calloway felt the necessity to give girls a chance to learn and improve their skills in the game of basketball.

“So much can be gained from playing team sports.” she said. “Through participating in Hoops for Girls, we hope that the campers will gain self-confidence, learn the importance of teamwork and the importance of good sportsmanship. All of which can help them, not only in basketball, but life as well.”

Calloway said that Hoops for Girls Basketball Camp will be held July 10–14 this summer at Daphne United Methodist Church from 9 a.m.–12:30 p.m. The camp is open for girls entering the fourth – eighth grades during the 2017-18 school year.

Campers will receive a drink and snack each day. Water will be provided during the entire day. Campers will also receive a “Hoops for Girls” T-shirt.

We will have our celebration on the last day of camp with pizza and drinks. We will also have our Awards Ceremony on Friday.

Campers will have fun while learning the skills of the game. The campers will learn proper shooting techniques, dribbling skills, passing, rebounding, defensive skills, etc… We will have a free throw contest and an agility/ball handling contest as well as our end of camp tournament. Campers will have a chance to win door prizes and participate in other fun & exciting contests.

Campers will be accepted on a first come basis. We accept a limited number of campers so that we can give each camper the attention she deserves.

The cost of camp is: $75 until June 11. From June 12–18, the cost increases to $85. (Campers, who register between June 11-18, will not be guaranteed a T-shirt).
