LOXLEY, Alabama — Officials with the Loxley Work Release Center are searching for an inmate who reportedly escaped from the facility in the early morning hours Wednesday, according to a release issued by the Alabama Department of Corrections.
At approximately 2:45 a.m., inmate Jonah Andrew Salers, 23, was reported missing from the facility. Salers was sentenced on third degree burglary charges from Etowah County in October of 2016.
He is described as a white male, 5-foot-9, 170 pounds with brown hair and green eyes with multiple tattoos.
This is the first reported escape from the Work Release Center since October of last year and the second reported by the ADOC already this year. Glenn Patrick Ardizone, 49, who was serving a 20-year sentence from 2011 on theft of property charges from Mobile County, was recovered the same day after escaping the Decatur Work Release Center Jan. 6.
