James L. McNeill, 76, of Ocala, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Brookdale at Paddock Hills in Ocala.
James was born in Montgomery, Alabama and grew up in Foley, Alabama. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and an industrial/quality engineer for 32 years.
He belonged to The Sons of Confederate Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth (Thompson) McNeill.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Jean McNeill of Ocala, Florida; daughter, Jennifer (Lee) Lea Robertson of Lutz, Florida; son, James (Jessica) Lamar McNeill of Orlando, Florida; brothers, Homer and Jerry McNeill; sisters, Ann Sakuta and Jane Averitt, all of Foley, Alabama; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 beginning at 10 a.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 S.E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, Florida. Pastor James F. Young will be officiating.
Private interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Marion County.
