Introducing Magnolia Springs new town clerk

MAGNOLIA SPRINGS – Jenny Opal White was appointed as Magnolia Springs new town clerk during the Feb. 27 council meeting, after prior town clerk Karen Biel announced her retirement.

White is no stranger to working for municipalities, and she’s ready to bring her previous experience to her new position.

“I’m from Daphne, and I was prior assistant city clerk for the city,” said White. “So I’m coming on board with some experience, and I’ve had the honor of training under Rebecca Hayes, who was our former clerk in Daphne who retired, and with Karen Biel here in Magnolia Springs. So I’ve got training with two of the best and will bring that on with this position.”

White states that she’s looking forward to following in Biel’s footsteps and continue to serve the community to the best of her ability.

“Karen’s done an outstanding job for the town, and I think with her training and my past experience that I will be successful in this position,” said White. “I’m really excited to work with the council, the town, and the community, and I want to do my best and will be here for the people.”

Along with serving the town and the elected officials, White also hopes to grow in her career and to become an asset to the town of Magnolia Springs.

“I want to be a role model as town clerk here, to grow with the position and with the community,” White said.

She states that with the growth currently being experienced within Baldwin County, she hopes that Magnolia Springs will be on the same grounds as the other municipalities, while remaining the quiet community the citizens love.

Outside the office, White is spending time with her two children, a 17-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter.

“When I’m not working I’m involved in activities with my children,” White said. “From soccer to baton to dance. So I’m pretty busy with them, but I enjoy those activities and doing things in the community with my children and family.”

The vote for White’s appointment was unanimous, and she enthusiastically told the council that she was ready to officially start.

“I’m very excited to be here. I’m very thankful for the opportunity to be able to serve the town of Magnolia Springs, and I look forward to working with the mayor, the council, the community, and the county,” White said.
