Jesse Ray Darby, age 72, native and resident of Loxley, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an aircraft mechanic. He was an over-the-road truck driver and a marine mechanic who traveled overseas on numerous jobs, and he also worked as a heavy duty operator.

His favorite pastime was grilling out with family and friends. He was involved in car racing with his sons and grandson.

He loved fishing and hunting. He was a diehard Auburn fan and loved to watch the football games with his brother Ronnie and friends.

He loved his dog, Sadie.

Mr. Darby was preceded in death by his father, Jesse James Darby; mother, Bessie Ryals Darby; and brother, James Erby Darby.

He is survived by one daughter, Stacy Darby of Ludington, Michigan; and four sons, Randy Paul Darby of Robertsdale, Alabama, Stephen M. Darby (Rhonda), Donnie Ray Darby (Betsy) of Ludington, Michigan and Jesse Jay Darby (Chesley) of Loxley, Alabama. He is also survived by three sisters, Myrtle Darby McNeil of Theodore, Alabama, Quintella Darby Reed (Eddie) of Byron, Georgia and Ima Jean Darby Brill of Robertsdale, Alabama; one brother, Ronnie H. Darby (Kathy) of Fairhope, Alabama; one sister-in-law, Gwendoline R. Darby of Prattville, Alabama; and is survived by his former wife of 20 years and current caretaker, Christine H. Darby.

He has 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home chapel, with burial in Rosinton Road Cemetery (Lighthouse Baptist) in Loxley, Alabama. Rev. Stan Robertson from Faith Fellowship will officiate.

Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home.

He will be missed by all.
