John Henry Brown Jr., age 74, a native of Greensboro, North Carolina and a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama passed away Monday, June 27, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Brown Sr. and Ethel P. Brown; and brothers, Robert Franklin Brown and Keith Rogers Brown.

John served two years in the U.S. Army with eight months in Vietnam, and worked in Mobile for several years. Later, he did contract work for multiple companies in several states.

He invented and received a patent for a woodworking tool. John loved to work on cars and do odd jobs around the house.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth J. Brown of Spanish Fort; daughter, Laura B. (John Kendall) Gray of Petal, Mississippi; son, Russell J. (Lindsey) Brown of Hagerstown, Maryland, two grandsons, Zachary S. Brown and Jonathan K. Gray; uncle, Jesse (Tommie) Brown; cousin, Ruth Chapman; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 1, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
