Johnny Lee Emerson, 81, a resident of Robertsdale, died May 11, 2019.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sue Clayton Emerson; three daughters, Cathy (Mike) Baswell, Vicki (Marc) Reese and Lisa (Kenneth) White; seven grandchildren, Melanie, Wayne, Britton, Clayton, Morgan, Victoria and Cathryn; four great-grandchildren, John, Daniel, Michael and Catie Mae; two brothers, Archie Emerson and Harold Emerson; and one sister, Jewel Shotts.

He dearly loved his church family, the Robertsdale Church of Christ. He devoted his life's work to preaching; he began to serve the Robertsdale church in 1966 and continuously ministered to the needs of the church for more than 50 years.

He will be remembered for his joy in serving God and for his kindness and enthusiasm in helping and encouraging others.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Robertsdale Church of Christ, with Wayne Baswell and Andrew Itson officiating.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m.

In keeping with the generosity with which he lived his life, his body has been donated to the University of South Alabama for the advancement of medical research, at his request.
