The seniors at DayBreak Senior Daycare were thrilled to be visited by the duet Julie & Bret recently. They performed for over an hour, singing songs from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Often the seniors sang along. Everyone had a great time! Shown here after the performance, in the back row from the left are Marianne Hawkins, Julie McVey-Oldham, Chris Carsten, and Bret Oldham. Seated in the front row, from the left are Velma Tuttle, Carol Hines and Jean Coker.
DayBreak Senior Daycare provides a secure, loving environment where individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia are encouraged to participate in playing games, craft projects, singing, exercising and social interaction. The senior daycare provides participants’ fulltime caregiver with short term relief from the unrelenting demands of care giving by providing time out to grocery shop, attend support groups, or visit friends and family.
All DayBreak Senior Daycare participants must be pre-registered. The program is not designed to provide medical or counseling services but to provide support for the caregivers and their loved ones. It is offered every Monday and Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm and is located in Building B on the South Campus of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church. Cost is $20 per visit and includes a hot lunch.
