Coach Blake Shelton has a 3 in 10 shot at his seventh champion in 15 seasons of The Voice, one of whom is Bay Minette native Kirk Jay.
Monday night’s show, which aired locally on WPMI NBC 15, focused on the fans, showing viewing parties for each contestant around the country with songs by each artist picked by their fans.
Jay performed Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road,” for a shot at the top 10, introduced by fans at B.B. King’s in Montgomery. Watch parties at the Flora-Bama and Teresa’s BBQ in Bay Minette were also featured locally.
Jay joined fellow Team Blake members Chris Kroeze and Dave Fenley on stage with Blake Sheton Tuesday night performing Alabama’s “Dixieland Delight.” All three performers advanced to the top 10, which air beginning at 7 p.m. (CT) Monday, Dec. 3 and Tuesday, Dec. 4 on WMPI NBC 15.
Fenley showed off his “beat box” skills on Monday with Bill Withers’ “Use Me,” while Kroeze performed the Doobie Brothers classic “Long Train Running.”
Jay and his fans had to wait a little longer than they have been accustomed to in the first two weeks of live eliminations. After being announced first on Nov. 13, then second on Nov. 20, it wasn’t announced that Jay was safe from elimination until the second round of announcements on Tuesday night.
Also in the top 10 are Team Jennifer’s MaKenzie Thomas and Kennedy Holmes, and Team Kelly’s Chevel Sheperd, Sarah Grace and Kymberli Joye, along with DeAndre Nico, the lone remaining member of Team Adam, who bested Comeback Stage performer Lynnea Moorer of Team Kelly in Tuesday night’s Instant Save.
