Leo C Engle Jr., 65, of Orange Beach, Alabama, passed away on July 4, 2019.

Leo was born on Sept. 5, 1953, in Birmingham, Alabama and attended Banks High School from 1967 to 1970.

His family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, between his junior and senior year where he graduated from Clarkston High School in 1971.

He worked with his father at Steel Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia, and learned the steel business from him and many other lifelong friends.

He moved back to Birmingham in 1979, and married his wife Kitty in 1981, and loved her well throughout his life.

In Birmingham, he worked at Ingalls Iron Works and John Parrish Company in the early years of their marriage.

He went into business with Cliff Capps in 1985, and they detailed steel from 1985 until 1991, when they split the company, and Leo and Kitty went out on their own as Engle & Associates, where he served as president for the rest of his life.

He always enjoyed the water. Kitty and Leo built a home at Lake Logan Martin, where they entertained family and friends with boating, fishing, swimming and many holiday dinners.

Later, they built a home on Wolf Bay in Orange Beach, where they continued to graciously host friends and family for many years.

Leo enjoyed his animals: dogs, birds, and especially cats. In the last weeks of his life, he brought one more tiny calico kitten home that he named Pringle Engle.

Leo was a lifelong fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, and attended football games for many years, tailgating and traveling with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Craddock Engle Sr.; his mother, Era D. Ellis; and Pell City friend and employee James Price.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kitty Engle; nephews, Chris Callahan (Rachel) and Joseph Callahan (Heather); brother-in-law, Mike Callahan (Kathy); grandniece, Ali Callahan; grandnephew, Noah Callahan; goddaughter, Hailey Bagents; best friends, Garland Brock (Tammy) and Buster Cole (Jan); and many other dearly beloved special friends.

A memorial service is to be determined at a later time, but condolences may be sent to the family c/o Engle & Associates, 1277 Center Point Pkwy., Birmingham, AL 35215.
