Loxley Church mourns loss of pastor

LOXLEY — There was an outpouring of support in the Loxley community and on social media as funeral services for Loxley Church pastor Herman Knapp were held on Tuesday.

“Pastor Herman’s life and ministry touched many across the world and will continue to do so,” the church posted on Facebook Tuesday. A livestream feed of the service was set up for those unable to attend, according to the post.

According to reports, Knapp, 51, a native of Millbrook, was killed when the ATV he was riding crashed during a hunting trip in Beatrice in Monroe County.

Vehicles filled the parking lot on Tuesday at the church, which is also known as the Loxley Church of God, located on Highway 59 near the intersection of County Road 55 in Loxley. A graveside service was held at Brookside Cemetery in Millbrook on Wednesday.

Along with his wife, Kim, who is also listed on the Loxley Church website as the church’s bookkeeper, Knapp is survived by a daughter and a son, all of Loxley, along with a sister and a brother, who live in Millbrook.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Loxley Church Mountain Movers fund, P.O. Box 499, Loxley, AL 36551, or you can give on the church’s website, loxleychurch.onthecity.org/give/login.

“Thank you for the outpouring of prayers and support during this time,” the church posted on Facebook Monday. “Continue to wrap the Knapp family in them.”
