ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — A Loxley man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following a multi-car pileup on Friday, Sept. 6 on Alabama 59 just south of County Road 48 near Walmart in Robertsdale.

Robertsdale Police said Gonzalo Ramos-Velazquez, 51, whose address is listed on the arrest report as Loxley, was driving a 2008 F-750 truck with Texas plates, which had been converted into “some type of work truck.”

In all, six vehicles were involved in the accident. Two people were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. No one else was injured in the accident.

Ramos-Velazquez was charged at the scene with misdemeanor driving under the influence (alcohol) and was held in the Robertsdale Jail. Because the charge was a misdemeanor charge, he was not transported to the Baldwin County Corrections Facility, officials said.

Ramos-Velazquez has two bookings listed on the Baldwin County Corrections Facility site. His address was listed as Silverhill when he was booked in 2014 on a public intoxication charge. He was listed as living in Robertsdale in 2012 when he was booked for failure to appear.
