MAGNOLIA SPRINGS - The Town of Magnolia Springs presented a proclamation for Ecumenical Ministries Day in honor of the organization’s 50th year anniversary, celebrated during January, 2020. Emergency Aid Social Worker for Ecumenical Ministries Margaret Ingram Calhoun was present to receive the proclamation.

“Ecumenical Ministries’ volunteers and staff have helped more than 96 thousand individuals facing emergencies; it’s quite amazing,” said Mayor Kim Koniar.

During its 50 years of service, Ecumenical Ministries has provided over a million meals to people in need in Baldwin County, and Meals on Wheels volunteers have delivered over half a million low cost meals to individuals. Volunteers and staff have repaired more than 580 low income and unoccupied homes.

During the holidays, Ecumenical Ministries delivers Christmas gifts to low income children and elderly. So far, over 25 thousand gifts have been handpicked. The organization has initiated the paving of 350 miles of roads, as well as initiated racial reconciliation between thousands of individuals.

“We just want to say thank you to Ecumenical for all the work that you do,” Koniar said. “We appreciate everything you’ve done.”
