Mary Elizabeth Martin Rivers, age 94, of Robertsdale, passed away on Aug. 24, 2016 in Johns Creek, Georgia.

She was a native of Mobile, a 1938 graduate of Murphy High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Dickson Rivers; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Martin Sr.; brothers, William Charles Martin Jr., Percy Martin, Fred Martin; and a sister, Mrs. Janet Martin Jackson.

She is survived by sisters, Mrs. Ruth Green of Fairhope; Mrs. Bernice Blackman of Mobile; and Mrs. Susan Turberville (Russ) of Fairhope. Survivors also include a daughter, Nancy Carol Hunley (Alan) of Alpharetta, Georgia; a son, Clyde Everett Rivers (Betty) of Selma; and daughter. Mary Susan Lewis (Larry) of Kingwood, Texas. Grandchildren include Brian Lee Hunley of Johns Creek, Georgia, Jeremy Arthur Hunley of Stephenson, Virginia, Margaret Anne Schilder (Andrew), Clyde Everett Rivers III and Porter Lee Rivers, all of Birmingham, Jennifer Diane Lewis of Kingwood, Texas, David Ryan Lewis (Elizabeth) of San Angelo, Texas and Michael Dylan Lewis of Dallas, Texas; and great-grandsons, William Andrew Schilder and John Everett Schilder, both of Birmingham.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 31, beginning at 9 a.m. in the chapel at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, with a memorial service at 10 a.m. and interment to follow.

The family requests that donations in Mrs. Rivers' name be made to the Robertsdale United Methodist Church in Robertsdale, Alabama.
