Maybelle Dennis Daves, age 82, of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on May 17, 2018.

"Gran," as she was affectionately known by her beloved grandchildren, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jimmy Edward Daves; son, Michael Edward Daves (Ashley), all of Fairhope, Alabama; daughter, Lynn Daves Sullivan of Mount Olive, Mississippi. Her grandchildren who brought unending joy to her heart are Michael, Meagan and Patrick Daves of Fairhope, Alabama, Chelsea Nicole Gray of Taylorsville, Mississippi and Whitney Lee Reid of Raleigh, Mississippi. She also leaves behind three adored sister and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews, whom she doted on so often.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Bell Lewis Dennis and Charlie Lee Dennis Sr.; a sister and two brothers.

Having grown up in Winona, Mississippi, she graduated from Winona High School and the day after graduation, with much joy, married her soulmate, Jim. They spent most of their life raising their two children in Canton, Mississippi, later moving to Madison, Mississippi and finally to Fairhope, Alabama to be closer to her son and his family.

She and Jim became very active in their Sunday school class at First Baptist Church of Fairhope, and "Gran" loved a good afternoon of dominos at the Nix Center with her friends. And although she loved living in Fairhope over the past six years, she was very quick to tell anyone, her "real" roots were back in Mississippi.

Graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona, Mississippi on Sunday, May 20 at 2 p.m. The service will be officiated by Mrs. Daves' brother-in-law, Rev. Fred Funches of Cantonment, Florida.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Fairhope Health and Rehabilitation, as well as those of Kindred Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials sent to First Baptist Church of Fairhope, 300 S. Section St., Fairhope, AL 36532.

Arrangements are being handled by Lee Funeral Home in Winona.
