SILVERHILL, Alabama — A Mississippi man is in jail after being found with a stolen tractor-trailer rig in Silverhill on Sunday. Officials say he resisted first responders from multiple agencies, including running from police twice, refusing treatment and punching a Silverhill officer before finally being booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility.

According to online records, 40-year-old Tyrone Tommaris Mosley of McClain, Mississippi, was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility at 12:12 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, charged with two counts of receiving stolen property. He is in jail on a $22,500 bond.

Silverhill Police Chief Kenneth Hempleng said it all began when officers received a call at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday that a 1995 Peterbuilt truck with a flatbed trailer attached was parked on the side of the road on County Road 54 in Silverhill, blocking the residents’ property.

When officers arrived on the scene, Hempleng said, the driver of the vehicle, who was later identified as Mosley, ran from officers. Hempfleng said the rig was later found to have been reported stolen from Pascagoula, Mississippi. Officers would catch up to Mosley after he fell into a steep drop-off.

First responders were called to the scene, including firefighters from Silverhill and Robertsdale, Hempfleng said, and when Mosley complained of injuries, the local MedStar helicopter was called in.

“He fought everybody,” Hempleng said. “He fought police, he fought fire department crews trying to rescue him after he fell, he fought with paramedics and hospital staff trying to treat him, and everyone in between.” Hempfleng stated that Mosley told officials on the scene that he couldn’t move and complained of a broken back and a broken leg.

After being sedated by paramedics, Mosley was transported to USA Medical Center in Mobile, where he again resisted, fought with hospital officials, refused treatment, and was released back into officers’ custody.

But when officers from Silverhill and Mobile police departments tried to secure Mosley, Hempleng said, he ran again, in the process punching Silverhill Police Officer Juanita Odom. Hempleng said since Odom was not injured, Mosley would likely only face harassment charges.

Mosley was then transported to the Baldwin County Corrections Facility, but since he was still complaining of injuries, even after running from police a second time, had to be taken to North Baldwin Infirmary.

After fighting with hospital staff at North Baldwin Infirmary, Mosley was again sedated and examined. It was then discovered that he, in fact, had not suffered any serious injuries in the fall, and he was transported back to the Baldwin County Corrections Facility, where he was booked in the early morning hours on Monday.
