New Year starts with a chilly dip

Posted

The Ninth Annual Kiwanis Polar Bear Dip was well attended by brave souls wanting to start the New Year with a chilly dip in the Gulf of Mexico.

After the dip, participants warmed up by the beach bonfire while others headed to The Hangout to enjoy live music, chili and hot chocolate.

The Belcher family drove down from Daphne to participate for the second year.

“This is our second year attending. It’s such a fun family event for a good cause. We will be back again next year,” said Lauren Belcher.

Proceeds from t-shirt sales during the event benefited the Gulf Shores Kiwanis Club and Alabama Special Olympics.
