Perdido fire gets OBPD support

Details on the large structure fire yesterday are being released. Here’s what we know. According to Interim Fire Chief Mike Kimmerling, around 4:10 a.m. personnel from the Orange Beach Fire Department were dispatched to a fire in Perdido Key. Orange Beach provided one truck, one engine company, the on-duty battalion chief and the department’s fire boat. There were nine personnel from OBPD on scene and personnel were rotated as needed. The last units were cleared to leave by the Escambia County fire department at 11:45 a.m. The fire is in Escambia County and will be investigated by their fire department going forward. There were no major injuries, but one person was transported to the hospital for shock.
