BAY MINETTE, Ala. — After a split Friday, the Baldwin County High Tigers took a 2-0, round-two victory over Brookwood at Jerry Wright Field Saturday to advance to the Class 6A state baseball quarterfinals.
Cade Stamps scattered two-hits for the shutout as Baldwin County bumped Brookwood from the playoffs in their Game 3 series tiebreaker on Saturday afternoon. Stamps (6-3) struck out two and walked three for the Tigers who improved to 23-11 overall.
At the plate Dylan Brunson had a pair of hits with an RBI to drive in Michael Thompson who also had a single and scored both runs.
On Friday, Baldwin County won the opener 8-2 but dropped nightcap 6-3.
Tanner Clay (8-4) picked up the game-one victory for the Tigers while scattering six hits. Garret Dyess delivered four RBIs for the Tigers while Dalton Coleman, Chase Overstreet and Thompson each had two hits.
Baldwin County will travel to second-ranked Helena for round three this weekend.
