Richard Mainwaring Bull

Richard Mainwaring Bull, born in Morris, Illinois on Feb. 14, 1926 and a resident of Spanish Fort, passed away at his home on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019 at the age of 93.

Richard served in the Navy in World War II as a radioman aboard ships in the Pacific theatre.

He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, where he took graduate courses in business and most of his working life was in personnel and industrial relations work with manufacturing companies.

Upon retirement, he read to the sight impaired for more than 20 years over the radio reader services at WUAL, Tuscaloosa and WHIL in Mobile. He also was a lifelong member of the Minnesota Masons.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Warren Bull; his mother, Florence Bull; and his sister, Jean Bull.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Diane Bull; children, Pam Lollar, Julia Simmons, Jeff Bull and Jennifer Prater; five grandchildren, Matthew, Forbes, Ann, John and Jenna; five great-grandchildren, Marion Ann Haden, Audrey, Klay and Lylli; and his loyal companion, his dog Abby; along with other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church, 6530 Spanish Fort Blvd., Spanish Fort, on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at the Alabama Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
