Robbery suspect arrested in Ohio

A Baldwin County man wanted on multiple indictments locally for robbery first degree is now facing multiple charges in Ohio.

According to a release issued Wednesday by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department, 19-year-old Leandre K. Ward is being held on a $250,000 bond in the Montgomery County Jail in Dayton, Ohio.

On Monday, May 20, the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department issued a release asking for information to help locate Ward, who is wanted on multiple indictments for robbery, first degree in Baldwin County.

According to information released by the Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, Ward was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery in Ohio after allegedly shooting a subject several times during a drug deal in Trotwood, Ohio.

Ward led officers with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Dayton Police Department, on a high-speed car chase, according to the BCSO release, and was captured after a lengthy foot pursuit.

According to Montgomery County (Ohio) jail records, Ward was booked on Monday, May 27 charged with two counts of felonious assault and aggravated robbery.

Ward also has pending charges with the Dayton Police Department and will eventually be extradited back to Alabama to face his criminal indictments in Baldwin County.
