Robertsdale man charged in death of bicyclist

LOXLEY, Alabama — A Robertsdale man is being charged with homicide by vehicle after a Loxley man was struck and killed while riding a bicycle on County Road 64.

According to the Baldwin County Corrections website, Jason Wade Hardy, 44, of Robertsdale, is in jail without bond. Homicide by vehicle is a Class C Felony.

According to a release issued by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, State Troopers responded shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 on County Road 64 near the intersection of W.P. Gardiner Road.

According to the release, 20-year-old Andy Ganey of Loxley was riding a bicycle westbound on County Road 64 when he was struck from behind by a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. Ganey was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Hardy, the driver of the Tahoe was uninjured. No further information is available as troopers continue to investigate.
