Ronald "Ron" Dean Heveran

March 5, 1932 - July 4, 2019

Ron grew up and went to school in Gurnee, Illinois, a village near Chicago. He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University and later earned an MBA degree from the University of Chicago.

He was blessed with his loving wife, Rose Mary, for 51 years, and they had the pleasure of raising three talented children.

His business career was with four major companies: U.S. Steel, Transunion, Vulcan and Waste Management, which took him from Chicago to Ohio, Florida, Alabama and Washington, D.C. His career provided him with management opportunities in accounting, computer systems and environmental marketing.

He retired early to Fairhope in 1990 to enjoy its attractive climate as well as fishing and boating with new friends. There he designed and built a lovely home where they lived for 25 years.

He was active with the Eastern Shore Art Center, Baldwin County and Alabama Master Gardeners, Eastern Shore Institute of Lifelong Learning, Environmental Advisory Boards of both Baldwin County and Fairhope, and with St. James Episcopal Church where as Junior Warden he had a major role in landscaping the then new church in 1993.

He and Rose Mary also enjoyed travel and visited many foreign countries as well as most of the United States.

Ron was preceded in death by his father and mother, Glenn and Nellie Dean Heveran; by his daughter, Elizabeth; and his son, Gary; and brother, Ed of Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary; and their son, Glenn and his wife Kris of Racine, Wisconsin; brother, Jim of Fairhope; and sister, Judy of Michigan; and by two grandsons, Peter and Karson.

He donated his body to the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

A funeral service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope at 1 p.m. on July 18, followed by a reception in Green Hall.

In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to St. James Church.
