ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Robertsdale Police have identified the woman who was struck and killed Saturday night trying to cross Alabama 59 in the area of Divine Road.
According to a release issued Monday afternoon, Robertsdale police received a call Saturday for the report of an unruly subject that had jumped from a vehicle.
“Officers responded to the area and made contact with family members of the subject including the subject’s mother,” according to the release. “The officers were searching the area for the subject when he ran across Highway 59 from the East to the West side.”
The subject’s mother, 41-year-old Lashonda Katrice Preston of Montgomery, saw him and she ran across the road in the same direction. Preston was struck and killed by a vehicle that was traveling Southbound on 59. The driver of the vehicle, who is not being charged, has been identified only as a 20-year-old Robertsdale resident.
“The accident remains under investigation but at this time there are no indications that there will be any charges against the driver of the vehicle,” according to the release.
