Ruby Smith Hanson of Fairhope joined the Heavenly host Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, surrounded by family and friends in Fairhope.
She was born in Jones County, Mississippi, Sept. 29, 1924, and graduated from Foley High School in 1943. She married her true love, Paul Hanson, in 1943, who preceded her in death June 25, 1985.
To this union she leaves to cherish her memories her son, Dan Hanson and wife Debbie, Fairhope; and daughter, Janis McMaster and husband Michael (predeceased), Memphis. She also leaves her grandchildren, Paul David Hanson, Mobile, Rachael Beuers and husband Martin, Germany, Preston Hanson and wife Carly, Fairhope, Michael McMaster Jr. and wife Lauren, Colorado Springs, Brooke Kelley and husband Stephen, Memphis; and great-grandchildren, Alex and Julius Hanson, Mobile, Elizabeth Safley, Germany, Georgialee, and Paul Safley, Fairhope, Lilly Hanson, Gulf Shores, Charlotte and Gracie McMaster, Colorado Springs, and Reese and Aiden Kelley, Memphis.
Ruby was an active member of First Baptist Church, Fairhope. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The family would like to extend a special thanks her caregivers - Pat Stancliff, Victoria Dixon, Shirley Dixon and Dr. and Mrs. Carmen Perkins - for the attention and love they have shown these past five years, and to Springhill Hospice for superb care in her final months.
Services were held at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope on Monday, Aug. 5, 2019.
