SARALAND, Ala. — The Baldwin County Tigers battled at Spartan Stadium to a 21-14 halftime score, but could not keep up with the second-half offensive output by Saraland. The Spartans dominated the third and fourth quarters and handed Baldwin County a tough Class 6A, Region 1 road loss 35-14. Johnathan Perryman ran for four touchdowns and 190 yards to lead Saraland (4-3, 3-2) to a 28-14 win over the Tigers (4-3, 2-3).

Baldwin County set up the first touchdown of the game with a sack of Saraland quarterback Jack West inside the Spartans five-yard line which led to a fumble. Chase Overstreet later scored on a 1-yard dive over the top for the Tigers.

Saraland answered with a 52-yard scoring drive capped by a 4-yard Perryman touchdown run. A 54-yard touchdown pass from West to Lydale Flott made 14-7 and Perryman then scored on a 4-yard carry to put the Spartans up 21-7.

Before the half Trevieze Lawson picked off a West pass to set the Tigers up at the Saraland 49. Baldwin County then finished the 49-yard series with a 9-yard scoring pass from Overstreet to Chris Hooks. Christopher Coleman’s point after kick made it 21-14 heading into the break.

In the second half, Lydale Flott caught a screen pass from West then tossed a 58-yard touchdown pass. Daniel Taylor then broke through for a 31-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. The Spartans unanswered 14-0 tally down the stretch proved too much to overcome for the visiting Tigers.

Next up, Baldwin County will host B.C Rain’s Red Raiders Friday and Saraland will travel to Spanish Fort for a nationally-televised contest on the Hill with the Toros Thursday.
