Search on for two Bay Minette shooting suspects

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Bay Minette Police are actively searching for a pair of suspects in a shooting incident that happened Monday on East Hickory Street.

Warrants have been issued on first degree assault charges for Terrence Terrell Crook, 28, and Chaney Darnell Thomas, 30.

“Leads and tips are being followed up daily by investigators relating to this case and the whereabouts of Thomas and Crook,” said Bay Minette Police Chief Al Tolbert in an updated release issued Friday.

According to a release issued late Monday, BMPD responded to shots fired at approximately 7:56 p.m. Monday and found a male subject with a gunshot wound to the chest and leg. The subject, who has been identified as Anthony J. Williams, was taken to USA Medical Center by ambulance, where he is listed in serious but stable condition.

Shortly after, a female arrived at North Baldwin Infirmary with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was transported by Life Flight to USA. Identified as Latasha Tiane Mims, she her condition is listed as stable.

Thomas has an extensive criminal history and has previous convictions for assault II, drug possession, drug distribution, and is known to be armed and dangerous.

He has a pair of bookings for 2017, one in May on possession of a controlled substance and felon in possession of a firearm charges, along with other minor charges. He was picked up again in September on charges of failure by a felon to register a change of address. After spending two nights in jail, he was released on the third day on a $500 bond.

“Thomas holds active felony warrants for his arrest for assault 1st, felon in possession of firearm, and attempting to elude,” according to the release. “Thomas’ last known address is on South Hoyle Avenue in Bay Minette.

“Crook is also known to be armed and dangerous. Crook’s last known address is Abernathy Avenue in Bay Minette."

The only bookings listed on the Baldwin County Corrections Facility website are from 2009 when Crook was just 19. He was picked up on possession of marijuana, minor in possession of alcohol and traffic charges.
