Another claim has been filed with the city of Fairhope, as former Fairhope Director of Community Affairs Sherry Sullivan filed a verified notice of claim with the city Thursday, May 25.

In a statement released to Gulf Coast Media, Sullivan’s attorney Warren Harbison wrote her claim includes numerous issues with her dismissal from the city earlier this year.

“Sullivan, terminated in February after almost 17 years of service, had previously filed a letter of intent with the City,” the statement read. “The current claim includes multiple claims including but not limited to wrongful termination, retaliatory discharge, defamation of character, slander; libel and breach of contract.”

Sullivan was fired along with Public Works Director Jennifer Fidler.

Sullivan is the second city employee to file such a claim in recent weeks. The first was Fairhope HR Director Pandora Heathcoe, who filed a claim alleging an assault perpetrated on her by Fairhope Mayor Karin Wilson.

Officials with the city of Fairhope confirmed the claim had been filed.

Wilson emailed Gulf Coast Media to say the city was investigating the matter.

“This claim, too, will be handled internally by legal counsel,” Wilson wrote.
