SUMMERDALE, Alabama — Baldwin EMC is excited to announce the latest recipients of the Shining Star Student award. These students were nominated for displaying the Touchstone Energy characteristics of integrity, innovation, accountability and commitment to community.

Laney Elizabeth Haas, an eighth grade student at Fairhope Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for December. She was nominated by faculty member Karen Bartl.

Bartl wrote in her nomination, “Laney is a student who lights up the classroom when she enters the room. Laney always has a smile on her face, is eager to help with anything that is asked of her, and is willing to help her fellow classmates.” Haas was presented with a Shining Star Student certificate and a $50 Visa gift card.

Additionally, Fisher Harris Bryant, an eighth grade student at Gulf Shores Middle School, was named Baldwin EMC’s Shining Star Student of the Month for January. He was nominated by faculty member Carly Nelson.

Nelson wrote in her nomination, “Fisher is a responsible student with many leadership qualities. He enjoys helping others by doing volunteer work at Fort Morgan where he volunteers by working in the museum. He also participates in the Coastal Cleanup every year in an effort to help clean our Gulf Coast beaches. He is truly a unique, patriotic and intelligent student who deserves to be recognized for this award.” Bryant was presented with a Shining Star Student certificate and a $50 Visa gift card.

The awards were presented by WALA FOX 10 TV’s meteorologist Michael White, who also delivered a weather presentation to each recipient’s class.
