South Baldwin Chamber helps celebrate local Food Truck with a Ribbon Cutting Celebration

Posted

FOLEY - The South Baldwin Chamber along with friends and family helped celebrate Down the Hatch, a new food truck inspired by Chef Daniel Spear. The Chamber held a ribbon cutting celebration at the Foley Farmers Market as other local farmers and small businesses sold their products to Saturday morning market goers.

Down the Hatch began serving their gourmet cuisine from their eye-catching orange food truck this March and people have been enjoying the homemade salsa, sliders and fried green tomato BLT ever since. People can find Down the Hatch on Friday’s in front of the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center or stop in at the American Legion Post 99 Tuesday-Saturday. Owner and Chef Daniel Spear has a passion to cook and wanted to share his culinary creations with the world. When he saw a food truck for sale he thought this would be a great way to begin serving his own food to the community. Spear has trained under very talented chefs and has grown his skills and passion for the culinary world, and has cooked at local restaurants such as Bills on the Beach, Lucy B Goode’s and Cornerstone Lodge.

Along with serving from the kitchen of the American Legion and coming to their customers in their food truck, Down the Hatch will also cater your event and will even customize the menu to fit the customer’s needs.

Down the Hatch was named through a Facebook contest with friends and family of Spear and wife Rachel; the winner received a gift card to Down the Hatch and recognition on social media. Daniel and Rachel love seeing people enjoy their food and hope to one day open a brick and mortar restaurant in South Baldwin. You can find Down the Hatch on Facebook or give them a call to learn more about locations and catering at 251-421-0290.
