BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A local resident is facing kidnapping, assault and burglary charges after the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office says a domestic dispute on Monday in the Little River community of North Baldwin County turned violent.

Ladarrius Sigler, 25, who is listed as homeless, was arrested Tuesday on two counts of kidnapping, first degree; two counts of assault, second degree; burglary, first degree and theft, first degree, which carry a total bond of $92,500.

Charges stem from a call received to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10 from Janet Penn, who stated that she was in fear of her life, alleging threats from Sigler, her boyfriend.

According to a BCSO release issued Tuesday, Penn stated that Sigler was at her uncle’s residence on Sawmill Road West in Little River, attempting to gain entry.

Upon arriving at the address, deputies found Penn’s uncle, Joel Lewis Dees, lying on the ground outside the residence covered in blood, suffering from a large laceration to the top of his head. Dees was transported to North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette.

After finding no one inside the residence, deputies received a call a few minutes later from Penn stating that she was at the Shell Gas Station in Stockton and needed medical treatment.

Deputies arrived at the Shell Station and discovered that Penn and a 4-year-old female she has guardianship of had been forcibly taken from the residence in Little River and Penn had been assaulted with a wooden bat. Penn was also transported to NBI for treatment.

Sigler is being held without bond on a detainer for hold charge from Escambia County, Alabama. Penn also told deputies that the night before she and Sigler engaged in an argument in Atmore and Sigler took her 2009 gold Hyundai Sonata, Alabama license number 9960AY9 without permission.
